St Maarten

I’m baaaaaaaack! We are officially home from our vacation to St Maarten and while my 200+ photos are uploading as we speak, I wanted to pop in [I always fear that I will accidentally type poop rather than pop] and say hello! Amidst the piles of laundry, a delightful little bout of flu that I brought home with me [guys, it’s okay – it’s like going on vacation and eating/drinking whatever the heck you want and then getting to come home and unload alllll of the calories consumed while there] and all of the crap [pun not intended] that seems to not get completed while gone [weird] it may be a day or two before I get this full vaca recap underway, baby steps, but I’m working on it.

Long story short is that we had a great time, it was the perfect week of unwinding and really doing nothing at all. I had these moments of laying in a hammock under the most perfect of all perfect hammock trees [like the kind you see in the movies] with no phone, no laptop, no anything at all, where I just laid and I thought….mostly about what we were going to eat for dinner that night, but also about things like trying to lead a more interesting life, goals for the future, if we should adopt a Caribbean baby, overcoming fears and all of that other magical stuff that laying in a hammock will do to you. I think really the thing that I took away most from my time in the hammock is that it’s time to buy a hammock.

In other news, while we were gone a new nephew was born which makes us an aunt and uncle to six, yes six, children between our two siblings. This is really exciting because it means even more trips to Target for Cat & Jack clothing and of course, that sneaky little dollar section that sucks me in like Ryan Gosling’s abs in Crazy, Stupid, Love.
I don’t really know where I’m going with this post, but I wanted to get back in the practice of putting fingers to keyboard without any end goal in sight. Sometimes these types of posts come full circle and end with an actual point and sometimes they don’t. Today is going to be filed away under the “don’t” category and I am a-okay with that. I don’t think these kiddos care either. #thatbeachthough
Oooookay wait, one more thing. The Bachelor. Weirdest After The Final Rose ever. I kept waiting for Nick to say that his cat died or he had a hernia or something because homeboy would not smile or act naturally happy for the life of him. Buuuuut, they are in love [wink] so it’s all good.  But really though, can we all agree that if him and Vanessa are together at this time a year from today we all owe each other a coke?! Sorry Coke, I don’t see this ending well for you.
Okay kids, I better go do something productive like cuddle my dog now. When opportunity knocks, one must answer….
